19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a challenging year, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former coach his previous coach.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from spring of that year.

Success also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one different events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.

His defensive approach and frequent outbursts on court had led some to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an better serve.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a final set.

He saved four initial break points in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, he clinched the title with a point at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
